Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri – Journey to the Trek Base Village

Drive Distance: 220 km
Travel Time: 9–10 Hours
Altitude: 6,455 ft

Your journey begins from the city of Dehradun as you drive towards the beautiful mountain village of Sankri, the base camp for the Har Ki Dun Trek.

The scenic drive passes through hill towns like Mussoorie, Purola, and Mori while following the serene valleys of the Tons River. Dense pine forests, terraced villages, and winding mountain roads make this a memorable journey.

Upon arrival in Sankri, check into a guesthouse or homestay. In the evening, the trek leader will conduct a briefing about the trek route, safety measures, and equipment preparation.

Overnight stay: Guesthouse / homestay in Sankri.

Day 2: Sankri to Taluka – Trek to Puani Garaat

Drive Distance: 12 km
Trek Distance: 13 km
Trek Duration: 7–8 Hours
Altitude: 8,200 ft

After breakfast, drive from Sankri to Taluka, the starting point of the trek.

From Taluka, the trail begins along the beautiful Tons River valley. The path passes through dense forests of chestnut, cedar, and bamboo while crossing wooden bridges and mountain streams.

Trekkers will also pass through the charming Himalayan village of Gangaad, where traditional wooden houses reflect the unique architecture of the region.

After a long but scenic trek, arrive at the campsite of Puani Garaat, located beside the river.

Overnight stay: Tented camp at Puani Garaat.

Day 3: Puani Garaat to Seematra Thatch

Trek Distance: 11 km
Trek Duration: 6–7 Hours
Altitude: 9,970 ft

After breakfast, begin the trek towards Seematra Thatch, a beautiful meadow campsite surrounded by snow-covered peaks.

The trail passes through the village of Seema and gradually climbs through alpine meadows and forest patches. Along the route, trekkers can enjoy stunning views of Himalayan peaks such as:

  • Swargarohini

  • Bandarpoonch

  • Black Peak

As the valley opens up, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic with vast green meadows and flowing streams.

Overnight stay: Camps at Seematra Thatch.

Day 4: Seematra Thatch to Har Ki Dun Valley and Return

Trek Distance: 6 km (round trip)
Trek Duration: 2–3 Hours each way
Maximum Altitude: 11,768 ft

Today is the highlight of the trek. After breakfast, start trekking towards the stunning valley of Har Ki Dun Valley.

The trail gradually ascends through wide meadows and glacial valleys. As you approach the valley, breathtaking views of the majestic Swargarohini range dominate the horizon.

Trekkers may also explore nearby attractions such as:

  • Maninda Lake

  • Jaundar Glacier

Spend time exploring the valley, enjoying the dramatic mountain scenery, and capturing photographs before returning to Seematra Thatch.

Overnight stay: Camp at Seematra Thatch.

Day 5: Seematra Thatch to Puani Garaat via Osla Village

Trek Distance: 11 km
Trek Duration: 6–7 Hours

After breakfast, begin the descent back towards Puani Garaat. On the way, visit the historic Himalayan village of Osla Village.

The village is famous for the ancient Someshwar Temple, which features unique wooden architecture and holds great cultural significance for the locals.

Continue trekking through forests and riverside trails until reaching Puani Garaat.

Overnight stay: Camps at Puani Garaat.

Day 6: Puani Garaat to Taluka – Drive to Sankri

Trek Distance: 13 km
Drive Distance: 12 km

After breakfast, trek back along the same scenic trail towards Taluka.

Enjoy the final views of the beautiful valley, river streams, and forest landscapes before reaching Taluka. From here, board the vehicle for the short drive back to Sankri.

Check into a guesthouse and relax after completing the trek.

Overnight stay: Guesthouse in Sankri.

Day 7: Sankri to Dehradun – Return Journey

Drive Distance: 220 km
Travel Time: 9–10 Hours

After breakfast, begin the return drive from Sankri to Dehradun.

The journey once again takes you through beautiful mountain landscapes and small hill towns including Mori, Purola, and Mussoorie. By evening, you will reach Dehradun, marking the end of the memorable Har Ki Dun adventure.
