Day 1: Rishikesh → Lohajung (Drive)

Distance: 250 km
Travel Time: 9–10 Hours

The journey begins from Rishikesh, one of the major gateways to the Garhwal Himalayas. The scenic drive passes through the famous river confluences of Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag, where sacred rivers meet to form the mighty Ganga system.

The road winds through picturesque mountain towns, lush valleys, and charming Himalayan villages before reaching Lohajung, the base village for the Brahmatal Trek. On clear days, trekkers may catch a glimpse of the majestic Nanda Ghunti rising above the surrounding mountains.

After arrival, trekkers settle into a guesthouse or homestay. The evening is reserved for a trek briefing, equipment check, and introduction to the trek team.

Day 2: Lohajung → Bekaltal

Trek Distance: 6 km
Duration: 4–5 Hours
Altitude: 9,690 ft

The trek begins from Lohajung, gradually ascending through dense forests filled with oak, pine, and rhododendron trees. The trail passes through the traditional Himalayan village of Mandoli, giving trekkers a glimpse of the region’s local culture and architecture.

As the trail climbs higher, the landscape becomes more scenic with occasional clearings offering views of distant peaks. The path eventually leads to the beautiful alpine lake Bekaltal, surrounded by thick forests.

The serene lake, often partially frozen in winter, creates a peaceful campsite with spectacular surroundings.

Day 3: Bekaltal → Brahmatal

Trek Distance: 7 km
Duration: 6–7 Hours
Altitude: 10,450 ft

After breakfast, the trek continues deeper into the forests. The trail winds through enchanting oak and rhododendron woods before gradually opening into scenic alpine meadows.

Trekkers pass through the beautiful Telandi Meadow, which offers wide views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges. Along the way, trekkers may spot Himalayan birds and vibrant mountain flora.

The trail eventually reaches Brahmatal Lake, a legendary lake associated with Lord Brahma. The campsite nearby offers breathtaking views of towering peaks such as Mount Trishul and Nanda Ghunti.

Day 4: Brahmatal → Brahmatal Pass → Dhaldam

Trek Distance: 7 km
Duration: 7–8 Hours
Highest Altitude: 12,200 ft (Brahmatal Pass)

This is the most adventurous and rewarding day of the trek. The trail climbs steadily toward the Brahmatal Pass, offering increasingly spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

From the pass, trekkers enjoy panoramic views of some of the most prominent Himalayan peaks, including Mount Trishul and Nanda Ghunti, standing tall against the skyline.

After spending some time at the pass for photography and rest, the trail descends gradually through alpine slopes toward the scenic campsite of Dhaldam.

The campsite offers peaceful surroundings and incredible sunset views.

Day 5: Dhaldam → Wan → Lohajung

Trek Distance: 4 km
Duration: 5–6 Hours trek + 1 hour drive

The trek begins with a descent through forests and open landscapes leading to the traditional Himalayan village of Wan.

Wan is one of the largest villages in the region and offers beautiful views of surrounding valleys and forests. The village is known for its ancient temple and wooden architecture.

From Wan, a short drive takes the group back to Lohajung, where trekkers can relax and celebrate the successful completion of the trek.

Overnight stay: Guesthouse in Lohajung.


 

Day 6: Lohajung → Rishikesh

Distance: 210 km
Travel Time: 9–10 Hours

After breakfast, the return journey begins from Lohajung to Rishikesh.

The scenic drive once again passes through winding mountain roads, charming towns, and beautiful river valleys. Trekkers arrive in Rishikesh by evening, marking the end of an unforgettable trekking experience in the Garhwal Himalayas.
