Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri – Drive to the Trek Base Village
Drive Distance: 220 km
Travel Time: 9–10 Hours
Altitude: 6,455 ft
Your adventure begins from the capital city of Dehradun. From here, the journey heads towards the charming mountain village of Sankri, which serves as the base camp for the Kedarkantha Trek.
The scenic drive takes you through picturesque hill towns and beautiful valleys. The route passes through Mussoorie, Purola, Mori, and Naitwar, following the serene courses of the Yamuna and Tons rivers. Dense pine forests and terraced mountain villages make this drive extremely scenic.
Upon reaching Sankri, check into a guesthouse or homestay. In the evening, the trek leader will conduct a short briefing about the upcoming trek and safety guidelines.
Overnight stay: Guesthouse / homestay in Sankri.
Day 2: Sankri to Juda-Ka-Talab – Trek Through Dense Forest Trails
Trek Distance: 4 km
Trek Duration: 4–5 Hours
Altitude: 9,100 ft
After breakfast, begin your trek from Sankri towards the beautiful campsite of Juda Ka Talab.
The trail starts by passing through Saur Village and gradually ascends into dense forests filled with oak, pine, and maple trees. As you walk deeper into the forest, the trail becomes quieter and more peaceful.
You will cross small wooden bridges and gentle mountain streams before reaching Juda-Ka-Talab. This serene high-altitude lake is surrounded by thick forest and is believed to be connected to a mythological story of Lord Shiva.
During winter months, the lake often freezes and the entire campsite becomes a magical snowy landscape.
Overnight stay: Tented camp near Juda-Ka-Talab.
Day 3: Juda-Ka-Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp
Trek Distance: 4 km
Trek Duration: 2–3 Hours
Altitude: 11,250 ft
Today’s trek is shorter but offers spectacular scenery. After breakfast, begin trekking towards the Kedarkantha Base Camp through dense pine and oak forests.
As the trail gradually climbs, the forest begins to thin out and opens into vast alpine meadows. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy beautiful views of surrounding mountain peaks such as:

Bandarpoonch
Black Peak
The Kedarkantha Base Camp is located in a large open meadow surrounded by towering snow-covered peaks, making it one of the most scenic campsites of the trek.
Spend the evening enjoying the peaceful mountain environment before preparing for the summit climb the next day.

Day 4: Kedarkantha Base Camp – Summit Trek – Descend to Hargaon Camp
Trek Distance: 6 km
Trek Duration: 6–7 Hours
Maximum Altitude: 12,500 ft
This is the most exciting and rewarding day of the trek. The day begins very early before sunrise as trekkers make their way towards the summit of Kedarkantha Peak.
The climb is steep but gradual, passing through snow-covered slopes and open ridges. As you approach the summit, the view becomes increasingly dramatic.
From the top of Kedarkantha Peak, trekkers are rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of some of the most famous peaks in the Garhwal region including:
Swargarohini
Bandarpoonch
Black Peak
Gangotri Range
At the summit, there is also a small shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva along with idols of Parvati and Ganesh.
After spending some time at the summit, begin the descent towards Hargaon Camp, walking through beautiful oak and pine forests.
Overnight stay: Tented camp at Hargaon.
Day 5: Hargaon Camp to Sankri – Trek Through Scenic Forest Trails
Trek Distance: 6 km
Trek Duration: 4 Hours
Altitude: 6,455 ft
After breakfast, start descending towards Sankri.
The trail passes through forested slopes and charming mountain villages such as Posla, Kalap, Sirga, and Datmir. Throughout the descent, trekkers can enjoy stunning views of surrounding peaks including:

Bandarpoonch
Swargarohini
Upon reaching Sankri, check into a guesthouse and relax after completing the trek.

Day 6: Sankri to Dehradun – Return Journey
Drive Distance: 220 km
Travel Time: 9–10 Hours
After breakfast, begin the return journey from Sankri to Dehradun.
The drive again passes through scenic Himalayan valleys and mountain towns including Mori, Purola, Damta, and Mussoorie. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes one last time before reaching Dehradun by evening.
